The Heart Of What We Do

At From The Heart Supportive Care, we support individuals and families navigating the challenges of complex aging, cognitive change, and dementia.

As memory and thinking abilities change, many individuals begin to withdraw from activities they once loved. Conversations become harder, routines feel confusing, and caregivers are often left wondering how best to help.
Our work focuses on restoring meaningful moments of connection so individuals can continue to feel valued, engaged, and emotionally supported.

Through restorative engagement, we meet each person where they are. Using familiar activities such as conversation, music, art, storytelling, and shared everyday experiences, we gently stimulate memory pathways and encourage participation in ways that feel comfortable and natural. These moments of engagement help support executive function, emotional well-being, preserve a sense of identity, and bring comfort during times of change and instability.

Our approach is dementia-informed and non-pharmacological, meaning it focuses on understanding how the changing brain experiences the world- and how responding with patience, compassion, and practical behaviour strategies reduce distress and support calm connection (all of which helps reduce sensory overload and supports emotional regulation to reduce distress and responsive behaviours).

In addition to working directly with individuals, From The Heart provides guidance and education for caregivers and families. Caring for someone living with dementia can be both meaningful and overwhelming. We're here to help caregivers better understand behaviours, recognize environmental triggers, and develop supportive approaches that make daily life easier for both the caregiver and their loved one.

Testimonies

"Lynda's caring heart, compassion, support and care giving skills have been a blessing in our lives. We are so thankful for all she does for our family."
Tracey
"My Sisters and I (and our late Father, too) thank Lynda from the bottom of our hearts, for her wonderful affection and care of our Dad. From home to long term care, we would have been lost without her. We are so glad we found her when we did."
Lana
"Our family is deeply grateful for the dedication and compassion Lynda provides our Father. Her patience and understanding make a world of difference for him, and us- and we see how much happier and less stressed Dad is as a result. She always goes above and beyond, and we see her dedication in endless ways. With her consistent thoughtful approach to care over the phases of life ( from early in his home, to more advanced memory and restorative care in assisted living), Lynda feels like part of the family and has balanced this with professionalism very naturally. Her experience and empathetic nature is so very much appreciated."
